broscience stress theory

(original thread) my big broscience medical conspiracy theory is that tonnes of things are downstream of stress (which have ton tonnes of upstream things- environment, relationships, etc). I believe that chronic stress is more injurious to health than smoking, seed oils, microplastics…

me before and after leaving my job (which I loved, but stressed me out) – deliberately chose one where I was smiling in the first pic and not in the second. I was eating poorly, sleeping late, yet my entire body composition changed- lost fat & gained muscle w/o working out

no exercise or diet whatsoever! I was eating McDonald’s all the time and my gut melted away on its own

the media will never report on how media consumption affects your health. or if it does, yknow, it won’t be like “hmm maybe we should stop freaking people out with terrifying headlines”. that’s just probably what journalists say to each other while getting drunk after working too many hours trying to meet unrealistic deadlines and traffic goals. news media should come with warning labels just like tobacco does.

job insecurity is bad for health. your manager affects your health more than your doctor does.
