I haven’t been online much lately because I was having my mid-year exams. I think I did quite alright, though as usual I wish I had prepared for them earlier and with greater intensity.

The girlfriend bought me a little organizer of sorts, and I’ve been trying to use it regularly. It’s really neat. I regretfully must admit that one of my thoughts about it was “Sweet, it’s like a blog sort of thing, only I can take it with me wherever I go and I can scribble random stuff on it!” Well, it was bound to happen some day- us becoming so enamoured with technological complexity that we forget the power and convenience of the simple things. Case in point- did you ever hear the story about how NASA spent millions developing a pen that could write in zero-gravity while the Russian cosmonauts used pencils?

Two of my closest friends had a huge fight a couple of days ago over a growing misunderstanding between them. It began with very violent yelling and progressed into quiet tears. Now the reason this is so special is because the friends in point I’m talking about are both strong, independent and extremely stoic men, the sort that would on a normal day insult each other and anybody else in the most insensitive manner they can manage, then laugh it off. It was both heartbreaking and extremely touching to see them both so angry with each other, and then realize how much they each cared about each other. It was an honour to be there when they willingly bared their souls, bruises and patched-up vulnerabilities included, to all of us. I was honoured to be there, and honoured to call them both friends. I love my friends so much, and its powerful yet fragile moments like these that really make you realise and cherish it.

If there’s anything I can be proud of, it’s that I have managed to choose absolutely wonderful people to build and maintain relationships with. Flatteringly, the fact that they haven’t gotten sick of me must mean that I’m doing something right.

I love you guys.

    Dear ,

Thanks very much for your interesting blog. It’s always nice to see how people on the other side of the globe live, how they share the same joys and sorrows, what they do in their free time, etc.

I actually have a question about your blog. Would you mind helping us with a linguistic research project? We’re compiling data from various Singaporean weblogs. All it requires is checking a few boxes. If you want to take part and/or have more questions, drop me a note ( hack2301@uni-trier.de RE: Question ) so that I can then send you the ‘official’ project eMail. We’d really appreciate your help.

    Thanks very much in advance!
    Best regards,
