A post by Eliezer Yudkowsky suggesting that it isn’t the work itself that’s painful, but the decision to do the work– the starting point. Hyperbolic discounting– it might be a few seconds of discomfort followed by intense pleasure 5 minutes later, but we discount that.
Also attempts to confront the problem of resting and not feeling rested. (We often feel like we have no energy to exercise, yet exercise is typically critical to unlocking more energy.)
