the best advice i can give anybody is to have a body of work<\/div>\n
that’s the most “objective” way to be<\/div>\n
to divorce your professional self worth from your personal self worth<\/div>\n
not say professional means must wear shirt and tie<\/div>\n
you know what i suggest for you<\/div>\n
make a list of all the recommendations you’d make to anybody like yourself, or a younger version of yourself<\/div>\n
make one recommendation a day<\/div>\n
write in a notebook or better still, a blog<\/div>\n
you achieve like 3 things at once<\/div>\n
1- you kinda re-trawl your own brain<\/div>\n
look for all the shining bits<\/div>\n
what inspired you<\/div>\n
10 favourite movies and why<\/div>\n
10 favourite foods and why<\/div>\n
10 favourite books and why<\/div>\n
that sort of thing<\/div>\n
figure out what matters to you<\/div>\n
10 bad decisions you made<\/div>\n
10 good decisions you made<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
what you end up with is a meaningful summary of your own life<\/div>\n
day-to-day it can feel a bit bla or sian<\/div>\n
but when you distill the best moments<\/div>\n
it’s the equivalent of taking a few cooler-than-usual ppl (versions of yourself) and putting them in one room<\/div>\n
there will be some triggers and connections that you can’t anticipate<\/div>\n
if you do this on a blog, you’ll have people approach you from behind and in front<\/div>\n
you connect yourself to a larger ecosystem<\/div>\n
that’s the longwinded answer to how to find yourself<\/div>\n
you look inside for awhile, then you look in front and behind<\/div>\n
so imagine that on a wall, like 10-20 pieces of paper<\/div>\n
10 favourite moments, 10 worst, 10 favourite places, when were you at your best, bla bla<\/div>\n

you get the idea. once you lay out the data in a way that is meaningful to you, something will become apparent to you<\/div>\n
“the answers you seek… lie within”<\/div>\n
what they never say is it helps to take a systematic approach to it<\/div>\n
alternatively, go on a grand adventure (which is kind of the same thing- it forces you to eliminate the non-essential, and leaves you with the meaningful data in the end)<\/div>\n
they say success is<\/div>\n
knowing how to use what you got to get from where you are to where you wanna go<\/div>\n
where you wanna go can be as simple as “that way *point*”<\/div>\n
don’t need to be specific<\/div>\n
