Knowing yourself is a process and a journey, not an achievement to unlock.<\/p>\n
Take baby steps every day. Every day, do one little thing that gets you closer towards something you like- or if you don’t know what you like, then one step away from what you DON’T like.<\/p>\n
Write it down. “Today, I did\u00a0x<\/em>. It felt good.” “Today, I did\u00a0y<\/em>. It didn’t feel good.”<\/p>\n After a while you’ll notice certain patterns emerging. I notice that I get miserable when I’m sleep deprived, and that I’m more productive when I’ve been working out, and that I enjoy good books and good conversation. And live music. And dehydration is the devil.<\/p>\n Through trial and error, I’ve come to realize that writing is my gig. But I had to try a whole bunch of other things before I figured that out. Music. Drawing. Basketball. Running. I learnt that I like doing stand-up comedy, I want to be a better public speaker, and that I need to be an entrepreneur to live well on my own terms.<\/p>\n Do stuff. Some of it will feel good, some of it won’t. Discard what doesn’t work. Try variations of what does.\u00a0<\/strong>Occasionally try something completely random and unrelated. Over time, you’ll develop a sense of what you’re about.<\/p>\n What gets measured, gets managed.<\/p>\n So measure! Reflect, meditate, think.<\/p>\n But don’t worry so much.
