What is the pragmatic course of action to take when you are aware that your prediction about the future (to simplify it) is going to influence it?<\/p>\n
If there was a single chief economist in the world (again, simplifying it) and everybody listened to him- and he said “I think banks are going to crash”- then everyone will rush to the banks and draw out all their money, and the banks will then crash.<\/p>\n
What do you do, as chief economist (again, simplifying it) of your own life? You could say “I do not know, I cannot know.” But then how? I would choose to say “It’s going to be awesome!”, despite knowing full well that it might very well not be.<\/p>\n
BUT then and again, WE are the ones who decide what’s awesome and what’s not.<\/strong> Today I thought I was going to be stuck in camp for two more days because of other people’s mistakes. I decided that it was going to be awesome, that I was going to spend some quality time with myself, going to read, write, play guitar, think, smoke, etc. When I found out I’m going home… “It’s gonna be awesome!”<\/p>\n This is a very interesting place to be in- because as an atheist, I’m actually choosing a position that is based on faith.
