People keep asking me about the memex in my Twitter header<\/a>. You can download a PDF of it<\/a> if you like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Make friends.<\/strong> It is dangerous to go alone. You heal yourself by helping others. Be kind and serve others. We can do more together than we can do alone.<\/li>
  2. Find out how you are fucked up.<\/strong> \u201cThey fuck you up your mom and dad, they don\u2019t mean to but they do\u2026\u201d You inherited all sorts of bullshit that you don\u2019t even know. <\/li>
  3. Own your shit and fix it. <\/strong>You will never be perfect, but you can always be better than you were yesterday.<\/li>
  4. Introspect. <\/strong>If you don\u2019t know what you want, your wants will be decided for you, by people and forces who don\u2019t have your best interests at heart.<\/li>
  5. Seek to learn & understand everything. <\/strong>It can never be done, but it\u2019s always worth trying.<\/li>
  6. Learn project management. <\/strong>Everything is a project.<\/li>
  7. Recognize that your mental models are flawed. <\/strong>Everybody inherits a flawed, imperfect system.<\/li>
  8. Confront your fears head-on. <\/strong>Most fears are outdated, obsolete, and can be dismantled with a little work.<\/li>
  9. Indulge your curiosity. <\/strong>Following your nose will lead you to interesting places, and in the process you will become an interesting person.<\/li>
  10. Develop your taste. <\/strong>Taste is the most precious and important thing in the world. People with great taste create a disproportionate amount of value in the world, but the world we live in disincentivizes the development of taste.<\/li>
  11. Take notes. <\/strong>Keeping a journal of your own thoughts, ideas and beliefs over time will teach you things about yourself you cannot learn any other way.<\/li>
  12. Be so prolific you don\u2019t recognize yourself.<\/strong> This is the most effective way to develop your ability to gratify your own taste.<\/li>
  13. Beware assholes. <\/strong>Learn to identify assholes, and to lead people in coordinating effectively to diminish the costs of their actions. Be careful not to become an asshole yourself.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
