So I thought I&#8217;d do just that. There&#8217;s nothing in there that we don&#8217;t already know, no information that&#8217;s actually worth paying for (and I continue to find it ridiculous that people do!), but it is less trouble to work with existing frameworks than to start from scratch. I decided to take some liberties with it, changing terms and definitions as I saw fit, until it no longer resembled the original. I&#8217;m going to turn all the bullets into proper pages, and turn this into a sort of game, a challenge to reduce waste in my life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Defects:<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>Damaging outcomes. Create \u00a0delays, incur costs to correct.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><a title=\"Personal Responsibility and\u00a0Illness\" href=\"http:\/\/visaisahero.wordpress.com\/2010\/12\/15\/responsibility-and-illness\/\">Illness<\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"thoughts- sleep and\u00a0systems\" href=\"http:\/\/visaisahero.wordpress.com\/2011\/02\/22\/thoughts-sleep-and-systems\/\">Sleep Deprivation<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Injuries<\/li>\n<li>Unproductive Days<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Embrace the\u00a0detours.\" href=\"http:\/\/visaisahero.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/08\/embrace-the-detours\/\">Frustration With Detours<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Processing:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Performing tasks ineffectively, or performing unnecessary tasks altogether.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2011\/02\/27\/i-can-t-think.html#\">Information Obsession<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Lack of focus<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"The Facebook\u00a0Fast\" href=\"http:\/\/visaisahero.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/14\/the-facebook-fast\/\">Wasting time on Facebook<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Lack of clear step-by-step plan resulting in disproportionate, unnecessary and often repeated amounts of error in trial<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Perfectionism as an\u00a0excuse.\" href=\"http:\/\/visaisahero.wordpress.com\/2010\/07\/30\/flawed-perfectionism\/\">Spending too much time being perfectionist about early-stage work<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Downtime:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Time spent waiting idly.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>bottlenecks, waiting for something to do, waiting to be served<\/li>\n<li>Downtime spent travelling, waiting at work<\/li>\n<li>Stoning in front of the computer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Inventory:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Excess inventory takes up time, space and weighs down the mind.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Books<\/li>\n<li>Clothes<\/li>\n<li>Online<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Transportation:<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Traveling unnecessarily.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Idiot-Tax Taxis<\/li>\n<li>Making unnecessary trips to buy stuff when they could&#8217;ve been planned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Over-consuming\/Overproducing (Disequilibrium)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Performing non-essential tasks; producing more, too early, too quickly, wasting resources.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Smoking too much<\/li>\n<li>Spending too much<\/li>\n<li>Talking too much<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Misusing Human Potential:<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>No elaboration necessary. <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upsetting girlfriend by being irresponsible\/insensitive<\/li>\n<li>Not requesting criticism, and not taking it as well as I should<\/li>\n<li>Unnecessary arguments online (inconsequential)<\/li>\n<li>Spending too long\/too often just bumming around with friends (quality&gt;quantity)<\/li>\n<li>investing too randomly\/inefficiently in dead-end people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I found some notes from a business consultancy firm on improving organizational effectiveness, and I found it cute and convenient and very applicable to personal life.
