Electrons can jump from atom to atom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electric current is the movement of electrons from atom to atom. Measured in Amperes, or amps. (What about wattage?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lightning is a form of electricity. (How powerful is it?) Negatively charged clouds, positively charged ground. Discharged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voltage = potential difference, &#8220;electrical pressure&#8221; \u2013 measured in volts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Water flowing through pipes. Squirt gun vs fire hose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Current = AMOUNT of electrical current \u2013 measured in amperes. Numbers of electrons. 1 Amp of current = 16 quintillion electrons \/ second. 1 Amp can stop a human heart (??)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fossil fuel, moving water, wind \u2013 spin turbine, spins magnet in coil of metal wire, causes electrons to move, flows through power lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Direction of the current is changed several times per second. (How many times? Why?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Conductors, insulators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High voltage power lines usually aluminium \u2013 less conducive but lighter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1977 \u2013 massive NYC blackout, mobs looted stores, set fire to buildings. Off\/On binary code, transmitted at the speed of light.
