My favorite thing about Narcos is the big picture storytelling – when the show zooms out into the big picture, and the narrator talks about statistics and scale and logistics. It’s really cool to witness that.

The music throughout the show is really good, I have a playlist on Spotify that steals from most of it.

I really liked that one long extended scene when the police was after Pablo. The one that looks like one long single take.

I like how the show reveals that in many ways the drug war is simply unwinnable – seeing the frustrations of the DEA agents and the impossibility of their task, and how the organizations and people around them try to frame things as wins, as progress. Reality is so much more complex. Season 3 of Narcos really felt like an extended version of Lord of War, which is possibly my favorite movie of all time.
