birthday birthday

I’m not a very festive person; I typically spend my birthdays with my close friends, and with my family on the weekend when everyone’s free.

I have an amusing story to tell actually- me and my friends went to play LAN at Gaming Giants Katong where we are regulars and very friendly with the staff. That day, however, the regular staff weren’t in and there was a grumpy middle-aged lady being an absolute pain in the ass. She was pissed off that I had a muffin with me (it was a birthday muffin, and it was in a paper bag!) and was like “NO OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINKS” in that annoying middle-aged-and-unreasonable-pain-in-the-ass voice. I offered to put it in my friend’s bag, but my friend got unnecessarily worked up and asked the woman if she had a problem and if that was the way to treat regular customers (in a rather scathing and condescending manner). She actually threatened to call the police, which I found rather amusing.

So we walked down the road and went to HIGH, which is a higher-end LAN shop owned by a friend’s friend that’s got a bit of a “Club” vibe, with a nicely stocked bar and pool tables and a cosy atmosphere. We never actually did go there because we were regulars at GG, but thought we’d give it a try. We balked at the $10 registration fee but were told that $4 of it was free gaming and $4 was discount off the drinks, so it was really just $2 registration fee. And the best part- free LAN and drink on your birthday. We played for a good 7-8 hours xD

Ah. Then I had supper with more friends at Simpang Bedok, and dinner with my family the next day. Simple and pleasant.

I fell terribly ill over the next couple of days and am only just recovering now x_x
